This elegant curved gilded brass cigarette case from Japan is richly etched, front and back, and in-filled with urushi lacquer into the etched portions to imitate
nunome zogan inlay over iron.
The front shows a temple complex with Mount Fuji in the background. The back is decorated with a fierce dragon amid waves and clouds.
The interior is completely overlaid with gold roses and foliage.
There is no maker's mark.
The case closes shut tightly.
