Sri Devi
Tamil Nadhu, India
17th century

Height: 13.5 cm

This image can be identified as Sri Devi or Sri Lakshmi by the customary kuchabandha or horizontal band she wears across her chest. She also holds a lotus
stem (unusually) in her right hand. She wears her hair in an unusual
mukutu and through a disc at the back. She has several sashes which hang from either
hip and to either side, and is amply laden with ornaments.

Both legs are equally draped by her
dhoti and sash pleats hang down both legs. She stands on an inverted lotus platform with sits on a two-tiered plinth.
