Pair of Pepper Pots
Cutch, India
circa 1880

height: 8.3 cm, weight: 267g (combined)

This pair of heavy cast and chased pepper pots are decorated in high relief with classical acanthus leaf and flowers forms. The tops of each are covered with
small cast spheres that are pierced to allow the pepper and salt to pour. The tops unscrew. The pair has a surprisingly heavy weight in the hand and a
'solidness' not normally associated with Indian colonial silver.
