Malay Silver Ceremonial Trowel

This trowel with a turned tropical hardwood handle and a silver spade etched with typically Malay floral and foliage motifs no doubt dates from the British
colonial period and was probably ordered for the laying of a foundation stone by a local dignitary.
It is unusual to see a colonial artifact with an official purpose with such Malay design. It is not inscribed in any way.
