Carved Wash Stand

The stand has six legs, the front two of which can fold flat against the
nearest two. The top cross bar ends in two floral-like carvings from
which towels could be hung.
The back plate has a carved, open-work panel featuring a Mandarin
scholar figure amid foliage.
Porcelain, white brass or paktong basins were kept on such stands
for washing. See Item 18 for an example of such a basin.
