    19th century

    length: 8.5cm, height: 5.4cm, weight: 35.5g

    Provenance

    UK art market

This 19th century Chinese pendant is of gilded (or gold-lated) silver filigree set with a single, pierced paisley-shaped nephrite plaque and five turquoise and possibly lapis luzuli cabochons. It is based on hair ornaments worn in the 15th century Ming Dynasty which were almost identical in form and composition other than being made of gold rather than gilded silver (see Clunas & Harrison-Hall, 2014, p. 74) for examples.

The pendant is stable and wearable. It is in fine condition without losses or repairs.
