Straits Chinese Bowl
China but for the Straits Chinese Market
late 19th - early 20th century

diameter: 14.2cm
height: 6.4cm

This bowl is decorated against a plain background with
phoenix-like birds, Buddhistic/Taoist symbols, and
brightly-coloured peonies. The base of the interior is
decorated with a large peony.

This finely enamelled bowl has a Has a Kuang-hsu or
Guangxu (1875-1908) reign mark to the base.

The bowl most probably belonged to a set of porcelain
commission from China by a wealthy Malacca or
Singapore
baba family for an elaborate wedding.

In good condition but with a barely visible hairline to rim.
