A Polychrome Silver Lacquer Papier Mache Document Holder
Ottoman Turkey, 19th century
length: 39.5 cm; diameter: 3.5 cm
The holder is of cylindrical form. One end removes to reveal a metal-lined interior. The exterior is painted with birds
amid spays of silvered foliage and berries, on a cream background. The silver paint has been applied thickly, adding
to the tactility of the item.
