This small silver rectangular box would was used to carry small quantities of betel or tobacco. The hinged lid is repoussed and chased with flowing vegetal motifs common to the work of the Islamic Malays of Sumatra. The sides are lightly chased with floral motifs.

A handmade brass key ring is attached to the box on which a variety of hand-cut brass keys and other implements are attached.
