Silver Indian Talismanic Pendant

SOLD

Large Silver Double-Lotus Bud Amulet Pendant

South India

19th century

length: 11cm, weight: 307g

This heavy, cast solid silver pendant of double lotus bud form most probably served as a talismanic holder. The centre and ends have been cast with fine, raised petal borders. A central band is decorated with a beaded silver ridge.

The form suggests South Indian origins.

The pendant is in excellent condition without repairs. It has a fine patina from use and has obvious age. Overall, it is a very pleasing item with good weight in the hand and excellent sculptural presence.
