Tuareg Silver Bracelets

SOLD

Pair of Heavy, Solid Cast Bracelets

Tuareg People, Niger

19th century

width: 11cm, weight (combined): 488g

These heavy, solid-cast silver bracelets are from the Tuareg people, a nomadic Islamic people of Saharan Africa. The bracelets have been punched with typically Tuareg circular motifs.

The bracelets have clear age, with contours softened from age and use.

One virtue of this pair is that they obviously are a pair.

Heavy silver bracelets such as these would have formed part of a woman’s dowry.
