Small Cast Silver Figure of a Dancer

    Burma
    circa 1890

    height (with stand): 14cm

    Sold

    Provenance

    UK art market

This fine cast, chased and incised model of a traditional male Burmese dancer stands on a domed, pieced silver dais or stand. He wears the traditional tightly bound headdress for a Burmese man, and most interestingly, has been modelled with traditional Burmese velvet-lined sandals known a shnyat-phanat.

The image retains its original Burmese wooden stand, and is in fine condition without losses.
