Two Large & Unusual Silver Buttons

Burma

circa 1880

diameter (each): 5cm, combined wight: 21g

Each of this very unusual pair of chased silver buttons comprises a central roundel decorated with a dancing figure amid tall flowers. The buttons are edged with a wide, leafy, open-work border.

The backs of each are fitted with a central silver loop.

The styling and the costume of the central figure suggest that these buttons come from nineteenth century Burma.
