Rare Deccani Bronze Container

height: 8.8cm, diameter: 10.3cm

This container or vase, of squat form, sits on a low, flared foot. The body is cast with sixteen well-formed pronounced ribs, and the neck is embellished with a smoothed serrated collar. The shoulder and neck are further decorated with engraved geometric designs.

A vase with similar cast rib-work is in the David Collection and illustrated in Folsach (2001, p. 333)
