Enamelled Gold Diamond Earrings, Jaipur, India, circa 1850

Pair of Enamelled Gold Diamond Earrings

Jaipur, India

circa 1850

length: 6cm, combined weight: 29.6g

This pair of attractive earrings is a composite pair of 19th century elements, put together towards the end of the 19th century.

They are of gold with an initial floral-form element decorated on both sides with zircons. Suspended from these are triangular and oval pendants decorated in green and dark blue enamels and set with diamonds. Pearls finished with small blue glass beads are suspended form each of these.

The reverse of the suspended elements are decorated with red, green and cream enamel work in Mughal-inspired floral motifs.

The top of each earring is decorated with a hollow gold and enamelled sphere (some crushing to these).

Each has a latch back mechanism for wearing. They are stable and wearable.
