Zoomorphic Sword & Scabbard with Gilded Copper Mounts

This Indian sword in a Turkish/Persian style has a highly-polished, single-edged curved wootz steel blade and with gilded copper (tombak) mounts. The scabbard, with replaced red felt covering and metallic thread trim, has an open-work floral and foliage gilded copper chape and locket.

The hilt is modelled as a tiger rearing up (thereby forming the hand guard) to bite a stylised antelope head. The grip is engraved with scrolling leaves and flowers in a Kutch style.
