This small, pleasing pedestal bowl from the workshop of the much celebrated Kutch silversmith Oomersi Mawji is finely repoussed all over with typically Kutch-style foliage and floral scrolling interspersed with birds. The base has an intaglio stamp, ‘O.M BHUJ’.
The work of Oomersi Mawji and his firm was bought by local patrons but also exported to Europe and the United States. Among all Kutch silversmiths, the works of this firm is considered particularly outstanding.
