Indian Diamond, Silver & Gold Ring

late 19th-20th century

interior diameter: 1.9cm; size T (UK measurement), 9 5/8 (US): weight: 7.7g

UK art market

This northern Indian diamond-set band ring is mounted with nine larger foil-backed, irregularly-cut diamonds along the centre of the band; with pairs of smaller diamonds interspersed between them; and bordered, top and bottom, by rows of single, smaller diamonds.

The diamonds are set in silver and the interior, with a cage structure, is overlaid with gold.

The ring has a fine patina with its contours having been softened by use.

There are no repairs. The ring is stable and wearable.
