    Fine Rajasthan Woven Silver Necklace

    Rajasthan, India
    19th century

    length: approximately 46cm, weight: 100g

    Sold

    Provenance

    private European collection

    This beautiful silver necklace is a superb example of the silversmith’s craft.

    It has a central ribbed, spherical silver bead. On either side are horn-shaped cone elements covered in exquisite twisted and braided silver wire work. Each of these are attached to three chains of woven silver wire. The closure is via a large ‘S’-form catch.

    Necklaces such as these were made in Rajasthan, although this is among the most interesting examples we have seen.

    It is wearable and stable.
