Silver & Agate Cheroot or Cigarette Holder

Eastern Tibet / Western Sichuan or Yunnan Province, China
late 19th century

length: 18.5cm

private collection, London, UK.

This fine and elegant cigarette or cheroot holder is from Eastern Tibet or the adjoining western regions of Sichuan or Yunnan provinces in China.

It comprises a single piece of light brown agate with high-grade silver mounts that have been engraved with Sino-Himalayan scrolling motifs.

The mouthpiece end is fluted and carved with a mushroom-head mouthpiece.

The silver mounts show pleasing wear from use.

Overall, this is a delightful and elegant item without repairs and in good condition with fine patina.
