The fine needle pouch is of leather with a chased silver plaque covering its front. The silver plaque is decorated with a dragon and a lotus flower motif set in a high box setting with a single coral cabochon.
Needle pouches were worn by Tibetan women suspended from the belt. Most probably, this example would have been worn by a wealthier women and only on festival days.
The pouch houses an internal two-sided padded section against which the needles would have been stored.
All the elements are intact. The item has clear age.
