    Pair of Uzbek Gold Earrings with Pearls & Semi-Precious Stones

    Uzbek People, Central Asia, including Uzbekistan & Turkmenistan
    early 20th century

    Sold

    Provenance

    private European collection

    This pair of gold earrings is set with pearls, semi-precious stones and fine gold beads decorated with exquisite granulation work.

    A similar pair is illustrated in Hoek (2004, p. 105).

    A single example is illustrated in van Cutsem (2005, p. 82) and described as a nose ring, but the presence of a pair here and other pairs illustrated elsewhere suggest that these are earrings. Another possibility is that they could be both.
