This beautiful head of the Buddha, sculptured in fine sandstone, is in the late-Ava, early Mandalay-style which harks back to the Pagan style. The facial features are particularly fine and pleasing. The slender eyes have been carved in an especially elegant way, and overall, there is a serene countenance.

The eyebrows are fine and high. There is a triple forehead band. The ear lobes have three creases. The lips are well demarcated and slightly pursed. There is a large, round usnisha atop the head.

The image retains traces of pigment colouring.

The head has been mounted on a custom-made black metal stand. Overall, this fine head of the Buddha is decorative and stable.
