    This fine rendering in watercolour on paper of a Burmese monk entering a temple whilst holding a parasol to shield himself from the sun  is by Min Wae Aung (b. 1960).

    Min Wae Aung is among Myanmar’s best known and most accomplished contemporary artists. Best known for his depictions of Burmese monks, typically shown walking in procession and from behind, his style has been copied by many other artists not just in Myanmar but across Southeast Asia. Min Wae Aung ‘s works have been exhibited around the world including in the US, Japan, Singapore and the UK. His works are also in prominent public collections such as the British Museum, London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) Collection, and the Fukuoka Art Museum.

    The painting is signed ‘Min Wae Aung’ on the bottom right corner. It is in excellent condition.

    The painting currently is framed and is available either framed or unframed.
